Live or die, ultimately is not up to the individual rather he owns and professs to know how to control a gun or not.. Ultimately, one could be staring down the barrel of a loaded gun and get struck by a meteor or have a heart attack. Ultimately, no matter how much security one places in his firearm.. he is and always will be powerless in regards to rather or not he lives or dies and if he thinks his weapon is going to aid in keeping him alive just shows ignorance regarding what happens when you die... But then of course, If I didnt have a relationship with the living God and acknowledged the reality of the afterlife.. I Would be Terrified of dying and would do whatever it took to avoid going to hell as long as I could. Kill or be Killed? Go ahead and explain that to God when you see him.
