Liverpool legend Ian Rush has helped launch the club’s first full-time football academy in China. The Reds have linked up with Guilin Kingsborn to operate the purpose-built complex in the Guangxi Zhuang region. It features full-size pitches, practice areas, classrooms, changing rooms, a gym, canteen, lecture theatre and medical facilities. The Guilin International Football Academy will be a market-leading development centre and will support hundreds of children per week. It will provide youngsters with the opportunity to improve their technique and tactical awareness as well as develop key life skills such as confidence, motivation, teamwork and communication. Coaches from Liverpool FC will work on the project in China with a key objective being to recruit and train local coaches, providing career opportunities as well as developing the football standards within the region. “We are thrilled to have found a fantastic partner in Guilin Kingsborn, helping us reach and connect with our LFC family in China,” said chief commercial officer at Liverpool FC, Billy Hogan. #amey
