Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is lining up a loan bid for unwanted Chelsea midfielder Victor Moses, according to the Daily Mail. The 22-year-old former Wigan star has travelled to Manchester for his side’s clash with champions United tonight but is expected to be on the bench, and is free to leave Stamford Bridge. Chelsea want a £2 million loan-fee for the Nigeria international, but Liverpool are hoping to land him on reduced terms, and are reluctant to match his £55,000-a-week wages in London. However, the Reds are still confident a deal can be reached before next Tuesday’s transfer window deadline, and are hoping Rodgers’ long- standing relationship with Jose Mourinho will work in their favour. Rodgers managed the Chelsea Academy and Chelsea Reserves between 2004-08, and worked closely with Mourinho during the Portuguese’s first stint as manager of the Blues. Moses has been told Chelsea are unlikely to agree to his sale, but that he can leave for 12 months after his chances of breaking into the first team wavered this season. The arrival of Willian from Russian outfit Anzhi is set to reduce the winger’s opportunities for playing time, while he has yet to make an appearance for Chelsea under Mourinho. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are hoping to land Juan Mata on loan. The Spain star also faces an uncertain future following Willian’s arrival.
