Liverpools Mega Summer Window: Five Stars The Reds Could Sign, Including Lallana Jordan Chamberlain Anfield is an attractive place to play for world-class talent once more... Read more Liverpool news here! With Liverpool almost definitely competing in the Champions League next term, manager Brendan Rodgers knows he has to make some serious additions to his currently impressive, but paper thin squad. The Reds predominantly need a left-back, a backup striker, and central midfield reinforcement, and possible signings for all these positions will likely be heavily targeted. 5) Ashley Cole - Chelsea (Metro) The ageing left-back still has the ability to do a job for a top club, and would be available on a free transfer as his contract expires at the end of the season. Liverpool badly need a new left- back, with Jon Flanagan (naturally a right-back) currently covering for the seemingly constantly injured Jose Enrique. The chance to bring in an experienced left-back, on a free transfer, will unlikely be ignored. 4) Adam Lallana - Southampton (Goal) The Englishman will command a heightened price-tag, which could grow even further if he impresses at the World Cup. Lallana has proven this term though that he has the ability to play at the highest level. Hes fearless, and enjoys taking players on, which his exceptional technical ability allows him to do. The 25-year- old can also see a pass, and slide in teammates ahead of him. Rodgers might just see him as the long-term Steven Gerrard replacement, although his versatility means he can play further forward as well. 3) Yann MVila - Rubin Kazan (Sky Sports) With only Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson, Steven Gerrard and Lucas competing for three central midfield spots, the Reds need added numbers badly. French battler MVila is immensely powerful, and would be very keen to test his mettle in a top league, having been in Russia since early 2013. His manager at Rubin, Ribat Bilyaletdinov, reckons that if MVila moves to Anfield, hed spend his career on the bench. 2) Roberto Firmino - Hoffenheim (Sky Sports) The young Brazilian playmaker would add depth and creativity to Liverpools squad. Hes excelled in the Bundesliga this year though, bagging 14 goals and assisting ten from the pivotal attacking midfield role. Hed be expensive, and has recently extended his contract, but would surely be tempted to play Champions League football. 1) Xerdan Shaqiri - Bayern Munich (ESPN) The über talented young Swiss star can play in any one of the attacking midfield positions. Hes strong, quick, and is only 22-years-old. He would be playing first-team football at virtually every club in Europe, but with the likes of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery starting for Bayern, hes naturally found it difficult to play as much as he would like. Liverpool want him, but so do Manchester United.
