Livestyle News Jidai Matsuri (Festival Of Ages) There are 3 main Matsuri (festivals) in Kyoto. The 3 heavy hitters are ’Aoi Matsuri’ in May, ‘Gion Matsuri’ in July and last week’s extravaganza ‘Jidai Matsuri’. On October 22nd, more than 2,000 participants dressed in costumes representing historical epochs marched from the Imperial Palace to Heian Shrine. People from all over the country poured onto the side walk of Kyoto, some even waiting for 2hours to secure a good spot. But even this waiting time is pleasure time for some, as they chat with people around them, eat their obento (lunch) and drink some beer.
