Living Life Gods Way Luke 1:68-75 NLT[68] Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people. [69] He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David, [70] just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago. [71] Now we will be saved from our enemies and from all who hate us. [72] He has been merciful to our ancestors by remembering his sacred covenant- [73] the covenant he swore with an oath to our ancestor Abraham. [74] We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, [75] in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live. Have you ever been lied to? Have you ever been in a relationship and found out that the person you thought you knew had been lying and he or she is not the person you thought they were? When truth is revealed your eyes are opened and you see things in a different light. In this Scripture reading we see truth from a different perspective; we see that we have already been rescued. We see the One who was sent to save us has already redeemed us.The truth is the devil has been lying to us and we have believed his lies. He is a deceiver, an accuser, and he has come to kill, steal and destroy our lives. We have listened to him, for so long, we have believed that his lies are truth. So many live defeated lives, full of fear, rejection, worry, discord, and lack. Many have even believed lies about God. These lies have kept us defeated and doubting what God says and thinks about us. These lies have kept many uninformed about who they are and what they can do. These lies have kept many distant from loved ones because he has accused them with whispers of discord and assumption. They have believed his lies about others and assumed lies he told them about themselves. The truth is God has rescued each of us from our enemies so we can serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live. We need to chew on that truth for a while... God has a purpose and a plan for each life. The whole reason He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die a cruel death, though He had never sinned, was so He could exchange His life, for our life of sin. So He could take our filthy rags and give us a robe of a righteousness...His righteousness, not our right doing. Jesus paid the ransom for the price of our sin so we could receive eternal life. The truth is... John 10:10 NLT[10] The thiefs purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. Revelation 12:10 NLT[10] Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, It has come at last- salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth- the one who accuses them before our God day and night. Isaiah 64:6 NLT[6] We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind. Titus 3:4-8 NLT[4] But-When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, [5] he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. [6] He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. [7] Because of his grace he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life. [8] This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone. 1 Peter 1:18-22 NLT[18] For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. [19] It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. [20] God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but he has now revealed him to you in these last days. [21] Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. [22] You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13 NLT[11] For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. [12] In those days when you pray, I will listen. [13] If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
