Living far from home can feel like a punch straight to the face - TopicsExpress

Living far from home can feel like a punch straight to the face when some sort of tragedy or crisis happens and you are 12 hours away... You feel helpless because of the distance but you knew it would be like this. Grieving and panic would be dealt with via phone calls and quick travel plans. We adjust and deal. The subtle ache and remorse of moving away from family is realizing all the casual moments and memories you arent a part of anymore. When I left Knoxville, Beau was just learning to crawl and Evie has only seen me three times in her entire life. I am grateful technology allows me to see videos and we can FaceTime but I wish I could spend more time with my niece and nephew as the grow up. I really appreciate Lauren always talking me to the kids so they know my name and face. Makes it a little easier to deal with the distance.
