Living in our Authority We are more than conquerors Part One Introduction- Do you know how much control you have over your life? Most do not actually know The religious thing to say is, God has complete control over us How does that explain that most of our lives are shipwrecked and powerless? The secular thing to say is, the individual is in complete control That does explain why most of our lives are shipwrecked and powerless. The truth is a mystery found somewhere in this confusion Lesson What is control? By definition, the power to influence or direct peoples behavior or the course of events Does a Kingdom citizen have this type of control? Yes, Deut 31: 19 19 I call on heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have presented you with life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, choose life, so that you will live, you and your descendants, Note- what we do daily has an involuntary influence and consequences on ourselves, people, and events What type of control do Kingdom citizens not have? Absolute sovereign control Ps 103:19 19 ADONAI has established his throne in heaven; his kingly power rules everything. Note- Only Yahweh has this authority all to Himself How should Kingdom citizens perceive their control? Being deputized to exercise a delegated and measured amount of authority Matt 10: 1 1 Yeshua called his twelve talmidim and gave them authority to drive out unclean spirits and to heal every kind of disease and weakness. Define authority- the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience How is this authority delegated to us? It is passed down from a higher source of authority How is this authority measured? It is designated for specific and limited define uses Lam 3: 37 Who can say something and have it happen without Adonais commanding it? Note- we do not have the right to exercise broad or unlimited authority What is the purpose of this delegated authority? To exercise dominion over everything subordinate to the Kingdom Luke 10: 19, 21 19 Remember, I have given you authority; so you can trample down snakes and scorpions, indeed, all the Enemys forces; and you will remain completely unharmed. 20 Nevertheless, dont be glad that the spirits submit to you; be glad that your names have been recorded in heaven. Note- the Kingdom is the sole super power of the universe (highest order and nation) What are the things subordinate to the Kingdom? The kingdom of darkness to include the domain of sin and death Rom 6: 14-16 14 For sin will not have authority over you; because you are not under legalism but under grace. 15 Therefore, what conclusion should we reach? Lets go on sinning, because were not under legalism but under grace? Heaven forbid! 16 Dont you know that if you present yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, then, of the one whom you are obeying, you are slaves - whether of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to being made righteous? Note- the domain of sin and death includes the curses and infirmities that result from their corruptions What does the authority over carnality consist of? Authority to exercise control over our person (soul and body) (Body) 1 Cor 9: 27 27 I treat my body hard and make it my slave so that, after proclaiming the Good News to others, I myself will not be disqualified. (Soul) Rom 8: 12, 13 12 So then, brothers, we dont owe a thing to our old nature that would require us to live according to our old nature. 13 For if you live according to your old nature, you will certainly die; but if, by the Spirit, you keep putting to death the practices of the body, you will live. Who is the primary opponent to our authority? The adversary Luke 22: 31, 32 31 Shim`on, Shim`on, listen! The Adversary demanded to have you people for himself, to sift you like wheat! 32 But I prayed for you, Shim`on, that your trust might not fail. And you, once you have turned back in repentance, strengthen your brothers! Note- he is a defeated foe, but still in active rebellion against the delegated divine authority given to the Kingdom citizens Why is it so critical that we exercise our authority over the Adversary? If we do not exercise authority over him, he will exercise his authority over us Acts 19: 14-16 14 One time, seven sons of a Jewish cohen gadol named Skeva were doing this; 15 and the evil spirit answered them. It said, Yeshua I know. And Shaul I recognize. But you? Who are you? 16 Then the man with the evil spirit fell upon them, overpowered them and gave them such a beating that they ran from the house, naked and bleeding. Part 2 to come.........
