Living the Word Listening to the word of God. Loving the word of God. Living the word of God. The Bible on the shelf begs to be read. The sermon begs to be heard. The Gospel begs to be lived. The Bible, when read and loved, seeks to be lived out in our daily lives. Moment by moment, day by day. The sermon, when heard and understood, is only of value when it is illustrated by a consistent, persistent, determined lifestyle. The lamp on the table by the window may look nice in its place even if it is unplugged. But what a difference it makes to the dark and gloomy room when it is plugged in and turned on. The unseen power that is present and available changes everything around it when the lamp is turned on. It suddenly brings to light the unseen beauty of nice things, as well as the hidden things of darkness. What a difference the Gospel makes when it is not only heard and loved, but when it is also lived. There is no shortage of Bibles. There is no shortage of sermons. (at least not in our society). There does seem to be a shortage of light. Lets live the gospel.
