Living without Fear! "If the LORD is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them." {Numbers 14:8-9} The people of Israel were free from the slavery of Egypt but they were not free from the slavery of fear. After exploring the Promised Land, the majority reported, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are. We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” Only two men contradicted the reports. Joshua and Caleb had a different spirit. They followed the Lord wholeheartedly. They pleaded with the people to obey God and follow him into the land of Canaan. They were certain that God would defeat the enemy no matter how big or how many. They said with confidence, “The Lord is with us. Do not be afraid . . .” Unfortunately, the people followed the majority and, as a result, died wandering in the desert. Only Joshua and Caleb entered the land of promise. Living without fear allows you to embrace the promises of God. Instead of paralysis, you can move forward in God’s strength and power. Your “enemies” surround you - illness, uncertainty, job loss, grief, relationship struggles. Many challenges in life seem bigger than you are. In fact, they are bigger than you are! However, they are not bigger than the God you serve. The Lord is with you! Do not be afraid! Prayer: Father, don’t let us shrink back in fear and miss your promises. Give us a spirit like Joshua and Caleb. Help us follow you wholeheartedly. Help us follow you with confidence. In Jesus’ name. Amen. God Bless!
