Local Forecast for the TN Valley Sunday Morning, July 14, 2013 Clouds and some passing showers greeted many this morning, thanks to increasing moisture across the region as an upper low continues to track west-southwest, now in the southern Plains. This disturbance is responsible for pulling Gulf moisture into the region. The increase in moisture and clouds prevented temperatures from cooling as efficiently as the night before. Therefore morning lows this morning, were around 10 degrees warmer compared to yesterday morning, in the low to mid 70s. Expect a cloudy day, with pockets of sun. More passing showers and a few storms will be possible, but it will not be a washout, there will be dry periods. Highs today will be dependent on the cloud cover and rain over your community, most will warm into the mid to upper 80s. An isolated shower or storm will be possible on Monday, but many will stay dry. Most will remain dry Tuesday and Wednesday as well, with diminishing rain chances as a high pressure ridge builds over the region. This means temperatures will heat up into the mid 90s by midweek, and with muggy conditions, heat indices could exceed 100 degrees. It will be important to take it easy outside and drink plenty of water. The ridge will break down some toward the end of the week, creating a better chance for isolated showers and storms. TODAY: Cloudy, with scattered showers and storms throughout the day. High: 86. Wind: ESE 10-20. Rain: 50% TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a few showers and storms possible, mostly before midnight. Low: 72. Wind: ESE 5-10. Rain: 20%. MONDAY: A mix of sun and clouds. Showers and scattered storms mainly in the afternoon and evening. High: 89. Wind: ESE 7-14. Rain: 30%. TUESDAY: Hotter, isolated shower or storm possible, most stay dry. High: 93. Wind: SE 5-15. Rain: 10%. WEDNESDAY: Hot & humid, mainly dry. High: 95. Wind: SE 5-10. Rain: 10%.
