Local Friends: mom in Schaumburg needs help finding residential placement for son with aggression, apraxia, and ID. Pls respond by email to Nancy Lopotko, who will forward info on to the mom: [email protected]. Thanks! My 11 yo son’s dx is: Verbal apraxia (non-verbal) and severe intellectual disability He has been in Streamwood Behavioral Health since 2/14 for aggression and self-injurious behavior. He has shown improvement in aggression towards others but worsened with self injury. Medicaid may not cover him after 30 days, however, we have the option to get him assessed again if we bring him home and he is still having the same issues, and he could be re-admitted. In the meantime, I am looking for an appropriate residential facility to take him that can provide 1:1 care and constant therapy. So far, I have been recommended Hope Institute in Springfield, IL but would love to find something closer to home (Schaumburg). I’ve already ruled out Little City in Palatine because they cannot handle his level of aggression. I am in the process to apply to get my Home Based Medicaid waiver switched to Residential Based and also applying through the state for their grant program as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
