Local businesses triumph at Johnston Press awards Winner of the Best Team award went to Furniture Now, a charity in Lewes which has a warehouse in Eastbourne, three in Lewes, and a retail store in Hailsham. “We try to help as many people as we can,” said Natt Kidd who works for the firm. “We employ a lot of 16 and 17-year-olds, people with learning difficulties, people with mental health issues. We try to make the most out of people.” The company sources second hand furniture and restores it. They then sell it to people who can’t afford to kit out their homes, at low prices. On winning the award, Mr Kidd said, “It’s unbelievable. A great honour.” TV star Fred Dinenage presented the awards and said, “I love these awards this event in particular, because this is the crème de la crème, this is the battle of the giants. “These are winners from Johnston Press awards all over the south. They come together and find out who are the real champions.”
