Local law enforcement administrators urge drivers to plan ahead for Super Bowl Sunday. Law enforcement administrators from the Douglas County area met Thursday to discuss DUII enforcement efforts for the upcoming Super Bowl game. The Douglas County Sheriff, the chiefs of the Roseburg, Sutherlin, and Winston police departments, and a representative of the Oregon State Police were all in agreement regarding the seriousness of the enforcement effort. All local law enforcement agencies will have patrols on duty during and after the game on Sunday. These patrols will put an emphasis on targeting intoxicated drivers. Some of these agencies will field extra patrols funded with monies provided by the federal government for DUII enforcement. If drivers witness what they believe to be an intoxicated driver, they are encouraged to call 911 and report it. “We will make every effort to follow up on these tips,” said Lt. Doug Ladd of the Oregon State Police, “We have found phone tips to be a very effective tool to get an officer directed toward a suspected intoxicated driver.”
