Local residents are asked to pitch in during a food drive this morning to benefit Interfaith Human Services of Putnams Daily Bread Food Pantry. With the Thanksgiving holiday just a few short weeks away, and the winter feeding months following shortly thereafter, local civic organizations are joining together to hold a food drive to benefit the local non-profit, which serves hundreds of people in need throughout the community each month with food and other forms of assistance. The food drive will be held from 8:30 this morning until noon at the Cargill Council 64 Knights of Columbus hall, located at 64 Providence Street. The drive is sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 21; all food and financial donations will benefit Daily Bread. Organizers say items like dry cereal, peanut butter, jelly, rice canned vegetables, fish and meat are items that are in high demand. Personal care items will also be accepted.
