Local residents are becoming increasingly likely to contact the Financial Ombudsman Service with their money concerns, according to new figures. There has been an eighty five percent increase in the number of folk in Orkney and Shetland approaching the service over the past year. Last year the Financial Ombudsman Service received more than twelve hundred queries from residents in the northern isles, which resulted in three hundred and two new cases. Thats compared to one hundred and sixty three last year. Its a sign, according to the service, that local folk are becoming more aware of money matters. The most complained about product was payment protection insurance, with issues surrounding credit cards, mortgage endowments and bank account queries also raising concerns.
