Local youth from Central Nova are earning positive national attention. Flight Sergeant Scott MacIntosh with 374 F/L Chisholm Air Cadet Squadron in Westville received the prestigious Air Force Association Pipe Band Award of Music Excellence, presented annually to one cadet from across Canada. At age 16, Scott’s list of piping accomplishments is long: 2014 Sandy MacLean Festival of Tartans Trophy recipient, Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Massed Pipes and Drums 2012-2014 (youngest member ever), piper at the 2013 Halifax International Security Forum with delegates from more than 50 countries, piped across the Canada –US Border at the International Festival Homecoming Parade, was the lone piper for the Atlantic Region Cadet Pipes and Drums at the Halifax Citadel Commemoration Concert, and has played with the Royal Canadian Navy Stadacona Band. Our Canadian Cadet program is one of best youth development programs in our country and its benefits are unparalleled – good citizenship, community service, and physical fitness. My sincere appreciation and admiration to all our cadets, their parents, and CIC officers.
