Locals Roll Up Their Sleeves to Clear Debris VISAKHAPATNAM: Cadets of Scouts and Guides joined hands for a ‘Shramadan’ programme organised by Nethaji group of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Visakhapatnam to remove the debris, at DBK Railway Colony here on Sunday. Supporting them, locals too joined the campaign and cleaned the area. Divisional railway manager Anil Kumar lauded the Scouts and Guides as well as the public for demonstrating social responsibility and said that it was an example of public participation in crisis management to solve the problems by themselves and without waiting for the arrival of help from outside. As many as 60 NCC cadets of AVN College, along with members of YES Yoga and Walkers Club, took part in the clean up drive at Sivaji Park which was completely devastated by the Hudhud cyclone. Cadet Captain N Ramakrishna led the campaign and requested the public to plant at least one sapling at their house. Similarly, members of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation cleared the debris around Sri Sathya Sai Mandir at MVP Colony. A large number of devotees took part in the programme. State president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations Andhra Pradesh and Telangana SG Chalam coordinated the drive.
