Located at U.S. Highway 169 and Barry Road, Metro North has been closed since April, except for the Macys story and three restaurant pad sites. But Cooper noted that the site should become ripe for redevelopment as a result of a massive sewer project underway in the area. Kansas City is financing a $45 million project that will sewer 15,000 acres in the Northland, and construction started last year in an area north of Barry Road between Interstate 29 and U.S. Highway 169. The project is expected to spur the addition of 21,000 homes and 70,000 residents in an area more than 2.5 times the size of the city of Gladstone.
