Loneliness and Aloneness! They have only a few things in - TopicsExpress

Loneliness and Aloneness! They have only a few things in common: they are both English words. They are both nouns. They have the same root Lone which means ONE. But they do not mean the same thing: aloneness is a physical state of being, loneliness is a psychological state of being. Loneliness is not place-dependent but aloneness is. It means that you can be in the crowd and be lonely or in a congregation and be lonely. To say you are alone in the midst of others is grammatically correct only in metaphors. It is easier to be alone than lonely. The one hurts, the other does not. You can decide whether you ar lonely or not but when you are alone it is clear for everyone to see God Bless Our efforts
