Long: As strange as it may seem to most of you, my youngest son - TopicsExpress

Long: As strange as it may seem to most of you, my youngest son Isaac is a HUGE Johnny Cash fan. Having recently learned to play the guitar, most of the songs he can play are Johnny Cash songs. Well this little vacation we just returned from last night was for Isaac to see many of the things hes read about Cash. We even started calling our little trip the Man In Black Tour. Our first stop was in Dyess, Arkansas. Which is the small, very small, town where Cash grew up after his family moved there when he was 3. We then ventured on to Memphis and set up what would be our home for the next 4 days. It wasnt ALL about Cash though. While in Memphis we visited the Civil Rights museum, the Gibson guitar store and of course Beale St. Which is best described as Beer, Blues and BBQ. How can that be bad?! Next up was Sun Studios where Cash himself and many others recorded a lot of their first singles and records. Isaac got to stand in the very spot, in the very studio, holding the very mic that Cash held while singing I walk the line. The next day we ventured to Kingsland, Arkansas to visit the actual birthplace of Cash. A town so small you couldnt finish the smallest Cash song on the radio without having drove all the way through it. Isaac and I recreated a picture of Cash and Johnny Horton sitting on the steps of the Post Office there. The next day was a break from Cash. D, Isaac and my mother in-law went to the zoo in Memphis while I ventured to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and visited my old friend Rod and his family. This town has a little Beetles history, so it was a win win situation for me. On Thursday we started heading north towards Nashville and after a brief stop in Hurricane Mills, TN. so D and my mother in-law could visit Loretta Lynns Ranch, we continued on to Hendersonville, TN. where Johnny Cash, June Carter-Cash and Luther Perkins (Cashs bass player) are laid to rest. We spent the night in Nashville and the next morning we went to the Johnny Cash museum, which pulled all of these things and everything he has read about him, all together for Isaac. In talking to a museum worker who was fascinated by the fact a 12yr. old boy was such a huge fan and knew so much, he was even more blown away when he found out Ike had visited Folsom Prison in California earlier this summer. The look on his face at each stop was priceless. You could just tell it meant so much to him to be seeing the things hes read so much about. I can with almost 100% certainty say that Isaac had a GREAT trip. We all had a great trip...
