Long Status Update Warning. The internet is powerful & gives us all a pretty powerful voice as a whole to cheer on someone/something or bring someone/something down. As a small business owner my heart goes out to all those who work extra hard to provide great customer service in order to support their own family. Thanks to the internet small business customers can make a business grow and thrive but all our hard work can brought down to the ground with one unhappy client. So we pour our lives into our business to make sure our customers have a great experience and we all do our best to make a lasting impression that will make our customers come back again. The reason I say all of this is because NBC5 recently reported on an unhappy bride who was not happy of an additional charge she would have to pay before her album and digital images were released. She claimed in the report that she was unaware of the charge and the photographer would not communicate with her or release her digital images. So what do you think happens after a report like that is released? People storm the photographers FB page and leave nasty comments, write mean e-mails, give her one star reviews regardless of the fact they have never used her services. They ultimately start a digital lynch mob to bring a small business down. What the report failed to show was the attempts the photographer made to communicate with the bride. How this additional charge was explained to her several times during the course of communication through meetings and emails. Also, how this was stated in the contract she signed. The offer to not charge her the additional fee was also left out of the news report. This photographer did the right thing and tried to make it right with her customer. But it seems this bride was more concerned with her little moment of fame than a peaceful resolution. So we are left with a photographer who is being harassed and her business that she has spent the last 10 years building being tainted by an inaccurate news report. I do not know the photographer Andrea Polito personally. But my heart goes out to her and her family as she has to endure this unfortunate event. Today Andrea wrote a great open letter explaining her side of the story that was not rightfully reported and you are all welcome to read it if you are interested. All that to say, dont always believe everything the news reports.
