Long balls lead to Lancaster sweep JetHawks blast four, including two for catcher Heineman, in rout BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The JetHawks blasted four home runs en route to an 11-7 win over the Bakersfield Blaze on Wednesday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark. The win was Lancaster’s seventh in a row and finished a sweep of the Blaze. Tyler Heineman hit two of the JetHawks’ homers for his first multi-homer game of his career. He followed a Telvin Nash solo home run in the second inning to give Lancaster an early 2-0 lead. It was the third time the JetHawks have hit back-to-back homers this season. Heineman finished the game 3-for-5 with five RBI. Chris Epps added to the lead with a solo homer in the fifth inning, his eighth of the season. Starter Tommy Shirley allowed just one hit and struck out five but only threw four innings and did not factor into the decision. He did not allow a run. Aaron West (5-4), the tandem starter, allowed five runs over three innings to pick up the victory. Ryan Wright hit a three-run homer off West in the ninth before Michael Dimock entered the game to record the final three outs. Lancaster broke the game open with five runs in the eighth inning. Joe Sclafani whacked a two-run double to left field and Heineman picked up two runs with a single. Epps adde another RBI with a run-scoring ground out. Cameron Lamb allowed three runs without recording an out in the fifth and Theron Geith came in to retire the side without allowing another run. The JetHawks (7-0, 46-31) will head to Rancho Cucamonga to take on the Quakes in the first of a four game series on Thursday night at 7:05 pm.
