Long before the case went to trial, I religiously followed it on - TopicsExpress

Long before the case went to trial, I religiously followed it on the news and researched it extensively before reaching a well-informed but tentative conclusion. A conclusion or verdict that found Zimmerman guilty of 1st or 2nd degree murder. It was by no stretch of the imagination a verdict that I blindly and ignorantly espoused before or during the trial. Ive regrettably witnessed jury nullification several times as a juror, so Im not predisposed to letting my blackness and emotions cloud my judgment or objectivity in very volatile, racially-charged cases like this one. I jumped to Trayvon Martins defense because the facts/testimonies in the case circumstantially pointed to his innocence and Zimmermans guilt. I probably would have reached the same verdict if their races had been reversed, and Trayvon killed Zimmerman under identical circumstances. I really dont believe race would have been a determining factor. The facts spoke for themselves, in my opinion.
