Longer read but for those who have time I really got something from the way my day unfolded and the lesson that was reaffirmed to me at the end of it:) So today I was on my way into work and as I had some time in the car I was thinking about various things and also praying about finding a way AGAIN to not let a certain neighbor of our business get under my skin as just when I think he has done the most unthinkably unethical creepy bottom feeder thing he does something worse. The latest was sending someone he just hired to help run his company into pretend to buy from us...creepy but people do it...the line crossing part was he kept 2 of our best people for HOURS on a busy day with made up stories of a fiance that didnt exist, hours of time and research our people put into selecting just what he wanted pulling out tons of diamonds to find the right fit....when calls and emails seemed to be evasive or strange saying he found a better deal next store which we know is highly unlikely to say the least and what he commonly writes in his fake reviews he has posted, our awesome ex-military manager thought he would check him out on Linkden...it was so strange as he had a LONG history of working at...JEWELRY STORES! His jaw dropped:-O and this remember this wasnt popping in to see what our store was like...they often do that...Im talking HOURS of time away from our legitimate clients pretending to buy a diamond to see what our system is??I dont know...a LOT of effort that could have just been put in to doing a good job at YOUR OWN place in your OWN unique way:) When Ray Potesta being the professional he is, called him from his cell and said, hey what are you up to?? The poor guy was soooooo embarrassed and said how awful he felt..Ray said personally and professionally this in so unethical and wrong, why would you do such a thing...and they guys says...Im so sorry, it wasnt my idea...I just got a new job at (what Ill call our neighbor) and he put me up to it! OMG...seriously?? Who has time to think of this crap? Im thinking...this guy just got hired to run their store and he is ALREADY SHAMED and embarrassed executing shady behavior...lol! Good luck with that and my frustration slowly turned to feeling bad for this guy and his endeavor into a LONG list of things he likely will not feel very good about.... I keep driving and looked up to see what I thought was our billboard but realized quickly it was our neighbors billboard...no big deal EXCEPT instead of the blue and white colors they always use, they changed them to OUR colors Black, Gold and White but with their name?? What?? So I think briefly how Id like to give him a piece of my mind for continually deliberately attempting to confuse the consumer and remind him it is illegal and unethical...but we are doing great...it is not affecting us and remember that it is basically his business practice and said...Im going to be above this angry thought!! I turned my music on and listened to Dark Horse by Katy Perry which reminds me just to keep 7 miles ahead of him doing what we do and really this is all a compliment...in a twisted way...so I laughed it off and headed into work deciding we were going to have a GREAT day! Not to mention if I thought is was MY billboard...so would most other people!! What a numbskull... Now With summer although busy, it has been less busy then usual due to vacations etc...but regardless visualizing a great positive day, THAT was where my ENERGY was going!!:) I get to passing the said neighboring offender and there was no cars and it looked still closed.... I checked my watch thinking...is it not 10AM yet? It was 10:30...I said well, I hope thats not a sign of OUR day is starting as I was determined we would have a GREAT day and even if we were not slammed I promised some friends they could have a lemonade stand for Livy a little girl with Epilepsy, Ill spend more time with them...I thought....I get to the light in front of Gold & Diamond Source and the parking LOT WAS FULL OF CARS!!! Even some on the grass and what looked like a PARTY OF PEOPLE out front!! Our American flag waving and to get to the point of sharing these personal thoughts...instead of letting someones bad behavior personally or professionally totally distract you, remaining focused on our own lives resisting the urge to react....we literally had one of the BUSIEST DAYS IN HISTORY!!! It was FULL of people buying BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND engagement/wedding/ anniversary rings I can every remember!! In JULY!! It was literally like CHRISTMAS IN JULY!! People laughing enjoying their time, enjoying glasses of wine, beer or cold water selecting these memorable important things.. I am pretty sure we SET a SERIOUS record!! oh....and that little Lemonade Stand you may have seen on channel 8 who came on scene?
