Look at the faces of the people in the photo above. Judy in the news room, Leslie in traffic. Producer Beth. (Left to Right) That was from our last Christmas party together and yes, we were drinking. It was in 2012. When I visit every now and then, today, at 435 N. Michigan Ave., I see faces just like this. Fun, happy, productive. Only its not Christmas, its a work day and people are POSITIVE. That is so different than the way it was my last few years there. Im not going down the road of then vs now; Im just saying that as a friend to those people at WGN Radio, I have been glad of late to see their smiling faces liberated. To see their talents untapped once again. If ever a building of people deserved to be happy, that place is it. Sooo.....Its just been announced that Im returning to WGN Radio. Which is really really strange and awesome and exciting and terrifying and lucky for me. See those smiling faces? Who wouldnt want to be part of a room like that again? Ill be on the air from 10-noon. Kristin Decker will produce my show; Steve Bertrand will anchor the news. (Lucky me x2!) Ill continue to live and work here in Minneapolis. About that - More than once people on this page have encouraged me to come back to WGN. And so I happily have! But Ive got a big happy family here in Minnesota. Im not moving and Im not leaving WCCO Radio. I do a show from 3-7 with a very talented, funny group of people and when you drive past Madison you can hear us on AM-830. In fact, back when I was doing two shifts - a circumstance that still makes me shake my head in wonder - unacquainted listeners would hear me in Chicago, driving north. As my signal would fade, they would dial in another talk show, in Minneapolis, on WCCO. And theyd hear me all over again. HOW did that happen, didnt I just HEAR this guy? Am I losing my mind, they would ask. No. I was. But now the situation is better, more manageable, with a break in-between. And a healthier environment all the way around. So here we go.
