Looking Into A Womans Mind 10/11/14 I have one major task - TopicsExpress

Looking Into A Womans Mind 10/11/14 I have one major task today and I am not enjoying it. I would prefer a more important task to do, something that required my sort of intelligence. Today I have to choose something from my cupboards to wear tonight. Now tonight is not just any night. We are going to a big Birthday Party affair and even the President has been invited. There is sure to be a few Television and Newpaper cameras. So, as a foreign white woman in a crowd of mostly Indonesians, I will likely stand out no matter what I wear BUT I would like to do that standing out looking both pretty and appropriate. I think the dress code is ones ethnic group but that might be for tomorrows program. Now if I were to wear Australian National costume what would I wear? A Bikini? We will all agree that that is totally inappropriate and I definitely do not own one. The sad truth is that we Aussies have no national dress. I used to own a Scottish tartan, which was made into a dress and then as I grew was made into a skirt and then finally, it was given away to another younger Munro female. So, I go to my cupboards and take out the possibilities and forget I am an Australian. My beautiful Javanese kebaya blouses are probably a little too small now since my flab has made additions to all over including the upper half and I find out that the buttons cannot even close up. I did try. The kain (the skirt part) is expandable so I could match it with another non-traditional top. I select a possible 4 main outfits. I will wait for my helpers to give me their judgement. Its good to have women around the place at times to give their opinion on such things. Mens opinions on such things can be rather dubious. I wouldnt be in this difficult spot if I had given attention to it some time ago but I have a dislike of shopping for clothes and my husband - is a man - need I say more?! Of my three sons, only one has any talent in this area although all three would give their opinion freely when they lived at home.... ..... .... ..... The verdict has been given. I spread all of the possible outfits out on the bed and waited. When two helpers had come and together with one male (Sudin who lives with us) they quickly decided what was appropriate for a party of such dimensions. The two chosen as possibilities are the two dresses I chose for my sons weddings. They are the dresses I did take time to select. And my sons were married in Australia although the dresses come from here. Ive decided on the newer of the two. I must say, they did choose very quickly indeed.
