Looking back on it, Star Trek is probably a major reason Im color blind now. I grew up in Northern Minnesota where you are either Norwegian and Swedish. The first black man I saw entranced me because Id never seen anybody that looked like that. I asked my Mom why he was so dark and my Mom answered because God like variety. Later I watched Star Trek in reruns and I got used to seeing people of all races and nationalities working together in peace. Gene Roddenberry had a vision of the future where we did it right. Yes we made mistakes, but we mostly worked it out. It was a hopeful future. I like that. And so my Jack of Harts stories go the same way. We made a world I would want to live in. Is it perfect? No. But it is good. And that is the difference I think.
