Looking for a few good Friends of Black Rock volunteers for Saturday NPLD project. September 27-29 National Public Lands Day Bitner Ranch Cleanup Join us for this special cleanup project at the historical Bitner Ranch north of Stevens Camp. This area has a rich history and will certainly be of interest to archaeology and emigrant trail buffs! At this location, native peoples were living next to homesteaders which set a tone of collaboration in harsh territory. This will be the first year for this long term project to restore historical structures at Bitner Ranch and is one not to be missed! A dutch oven potluck on Saturday evening will be held to celebrate this historic project. Volunteers will be given a free pass that provides access to all federal recreation sites that charge an entrance or day use fee! 20 people needed. Access the Google map or use the following written directions. Directions to Bitner Ranch from Cedarville, CA: From the intersection of Hwy 299 & County Road 1 in Cedarville, CA.... Drive about 21 miles east on Hwy 299/NV 8A. Turn right (east) to continue on NV 8A and drive about 25.8 miles. Turn left (northwest) onto an unmarked/unnamed dirt road and drive about 3.8 miles. Shortly after crossing a creek, turn left (northwest) and drive through a gate. Drive about 0.5 miles to the ranch.
