Mandate The primary goal of this position is to provide support for the international operation of the Bank. This includes providing country risk assessments, monitoring global economic/financial developments, and providing supplementary support. Key Accountabilities Conducts regular country reviews to analyze the economic and political situation and recommends Country Risk Ratings and Bank Risk Rating Ceilings Member of the Bank’s Country Risk Management Committee Pro-actively identifies, analyzes, and reports on global economic and political developments and trends which could impact the bank’s operations and strategies Develops macroeconomic forecasts for key offshore countries and regions Contributes to quarterly newsletters on key international markets, such as China Develops and updates BMO’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) country ratings Participates in BMO’s stress-testing projects with respect to international bank and sovereign exposures Responds directly to requests from internal and external clients Represents the bank on global economic issues in meetings with government, media, and formal presentations to clients Contributes theme-based articles on a regular basis for the Department’s publications Candidate Profile Masters in Economics with a specialization in international theory and finance 5+ years of experience in international economic research, analysis and forecasting Strong quantitative analysis skills, including econometric modeling and the use of econometric software (EViews) Superior verbal and written communication skills in English (other languages would be an asset) Strong presentation skills Independent, and yet a team player willing to put in the extra effort to get the job done CFA designation (or working toward) would be an asset At our company, we have been helping our customers and communities for over 195 years.
