Looking for kids who love aviation! PLEASE SHARE! Do you know of any local kids who have an interest in aviation? I am recruiting for a fully paid scholarship to the EAA air academy in Oshkosh next summer through our local EAA Chapter 75 of the Quad Cities-IL/IA. The air academy provides an atmosphere where students become totally immersed in the world of flight while staying in the incredible log cabin housing. There is ground instruction and introductory recreation flight experiences high-light this action-packed camp. It combines in-the-air and on-the-ground hands-on activities like team building skills, high ropes, workshops, building, welding, flying simulators and even behind the scenes tours of the EAA air grounds, museums and the air show. These students are from all over the world and the camp is valued at over $1200, but at no cost if the student secures one of the three scholarships we offer. Scholarships help outstanding students who demonstrate a strong aviation desire to accomplish their goals either flight or engineering. To be considered you should be well rounded, involved in school and community activities, as well as aviation. This is a full 100% funded scholarship invested through the Moline Foundation, which annually provides tuition for youth to attend the EAA Air Academy for one week during the summer. Our flying chapter has a passion for flying and mentoring the next generation and this endowed scholarship was established to benefit youth who have an interest in aerospace and flight. To qualify: You must live within the Quad Cities of Illinois, Iowa or outlying areas; ages 12-18 years old; 2.8 minimum GPA, and applicant must have completed a Young Eagle Flight and be an EAA member. (If you have not completed the flight or are not an EAA member I can help you complete these for free, never fear.) Recipient(s) are required to present a power point presentation for the chapter members in the fall of the year attended to share their experiences with the group. Recipients are responsible for their own transportation to and from the academy. To learn more about this scholarship, contact Gina Gore, EAA Air Academy Advisor at 563-940-6273. Please share on your FB pages so the word gets out due dates for application submissions are Sept 30, 2014. I will forward you an application, contact me by PM with your e mail.
