Looking for something to fill in some bare spots on your property - TopicsExpress

Looking for something to fill in some bare spots on your property that is both beautiful and pollinator friendly? Why not consider grass leaved goldenrod (Euthamia graminifolia - bit.ly/1tAhz4N)? Formerly in the genus Solidago it has not been moved to the genus Euthamia. Unlike most of the true goldenrods, this species is characterized by its slender, grass-like leaves. It tends to prefer wetter soils and full sun. It is a favorite of pollinators, attracting everything from flies to beetles to bees to wasps. It is also a favorite haunt of the goldenrod soldier beetle who is just there for the protein-rich pollen. Grass leaved goldenrod can be quite aggressive so we dont recommend it for small gardens, however, if you have large patches in need of color, this is the species for you. It reproduces readily from seed and since we had a banner year of production here at Prairie Moon, we have discounted the seed costs for grass leaved goldenrod in half! A full ounce now costs only $40 and since the seeds are very small, you are getting quite the bang for your buck. Fall is a perfect time of year to sow seeds so get your orders in now.
