Looking for the Ear Tip! Here’s a good reminder, when you - TopicsExpress

Looking for the Ear Tip! Here’s a good reminder, when you trap a cat – any cat, anywhere – be sure to have it in the back of your mind “look for the eartip!” Crystal contacted us about a cat who was showing up in her shed – she was feeding, but what to do with this cat? So – first suggestion – trap him! But the cat was not there all the time – so, backtrack a bit, and FIRST suggestion is a camera! The camera did show this cat, who was there more often than could be known without a camera. The feeding time was identified, the food placed in the bungeed trap to acclimate him, and then on trapping day – bingo, cat is caught. And off he went to NOAH, where the staff was able to show Crystal a very small eartip on this GIRL. :) When you have not done a lot of trapping, it can be hard to remember to look for that eartip. But even when you HAVE done a lot, once in a while you forget to take a good look! And while all the clinics have done so much better on making obvious eartips, occasionally they are hard to see –like on this black cat with a small tip. And, if the ferals are kittens when they are done, the tips don’t always show as well as they grow into them. But as more and more people get into TNR, there will be more and more eartips (ET’s)! YAY – just don’t forget to look for the tip! Thanks Crystal for doing the work and taking the time – even though she was already spayed, you don’t want to take a chance! Let us know if she forgives you and shows up again :) Most of the time they do!
