Georgette Moses will moderate. --------------------------------------------------------------- Interestingly, our exploration of Chapter 11 – “The Glimpse of Life Beyond the Words: On Censorship and Freedom of Speech,” occurred during Banned Books Week, (September 21−27, 2014). Here we learn that the writings of Alice Walker have been the subject of much controversy and censorship, as well as how she feels about it. She shares what she thinks is happening with people who attempt to ban her work; and how she has learned to sit with their fears. Chapter 12 – “Sent by Earth: A Message from the Grandmother Spirit,” explores the experience of bringing life into the world, what it means to be a human being, and what it means to take life away, including the harsh impact on (or mutilation of) our souls.
