Board of Ambassadors Selection Process The Board of Ambassadors (BoA) is a “Student Council” of Ontario university representatives who act as an advisory and advocacy group for the CPA profession. The BoA is comprised of full time university students from campuses across Ontario. We are looking for 1-2 candidates from each university to fill the position on campus. Roles and Responsibilities: • Expected to attend meetings during the year at CPA Ontario, starting with the first meeting on March 21, 2014; other dates will be announced later in the year. • Promotion of the Post-Secondary Ambassador Program – formerly known as the University Ambassador Program (UAP) on campus • Promotion of CA$H, Chartered for Finance, Rule the Tube, and other CPA Ontario competitions and conferences • Team recruitment for CA$H • Attend CPA-related events on campus • Plan and execute CPA events on campus • Participate in committees and focus groups • Share updates and information regarding activities and organizations on campus Selection Criteria: To be considered for the BoA position all student applicants must: • be pursuing their CPA designation • be a full time university student • maintain a minimum 70% average • have no prior experience (and no future job offer) with an Approved Training Office Key BoA Characteristics Enjoys interacting with others and is highly involved on campus Demonstrates effective leadership skills Demonstrates strong communication skills Is self-motivated and takes initiative Is a strong public speaker Exhibits professional judgment skills Is able to effectively plan and promote events Selection Process: The current Board of Ambassador representative(s) and CMA Student Ambassadors together will select the top 5 candidates for their campus, with assistance from student clubs and faculty. The applications for these candidates will then be forwarded to CPA Ontario who will perform interviews with each individual and ultimately select the incoming BoA. All representatives must submit an application package, consisting of 1 PDF document that includes the below forms for each applicant: Application form Current resumé Transcript of courses taken to date (unofficial version) Letter of reference written by university faculty or staff, a previous employer or other individual who acted in a supervisory, mentorship or managerial role to your position (a fellow student reference will not be accepted) One-page essay summarizing why they are interested in the position and qualifications that support them for this role Interviews and final selection of all representatives is at the discretion of the CPA Ontario
