Looking west down Wilshire Boulevard, 1920s, with the Gaylord - TopicsExpress

Looking west down Wilshire Boulevard, 1920s, with the Gaylord Apartments at right. Apartments are still there I believe. And a photo from 1907 of the man for whom both the apartments & the boulevard are named, Gaylord Wilshire. After returning from Harvard in 1880s Wilshire worked in the family real estate business & subdivided area west of Westlake Park, naming one street for himself. A businessman who won & lost several fortunes in his life but was a revolutionary socialist in his own views, editor of the labor-oriented journal of the Syndicalist League in 1913-14.
