Looks like this is the week of tragic teardowns. We are saddened - TopicsExpress

Looks like this is the week of tragic teardowns. We are saddened to report that architect William Krisel’s masterpiece Mid-Century Modern home was demolished this week. Krisel believed he was selling his home to a preservation-minded buyer, but because the home did not have any type of preservation protections, the new owner quickly flipped it and the subsequent buyer was able to tear it down. If you own a historic home, a landmark designation (known as Historic-Cultural Monument in the City of Los Angeles) or a conservation easement can help protect your home even after it has been purchased by a new owner. An easement provides a legal means of enforcement for both current and future owners to properly maintain the property, while a landmark designation will officially recognize a historic resource and offer protections and design review.
