Lornes obituary, which will be printed soon in the Washington Missourian and the Current. We wanted to get it out before the services. Lorne Alan Becker passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. He was 55. Born March 6, 1958 in Kirkwood to Rollin and Marie Becker, Lorne was the most caring, compassionate person anyone could ever meet. He found peace in the woods and at the river, with a bow, a rifle or a fishing pole. To say he would give the shirt off his back to someone in need would have been a vast understatement – he’d give them anything he had. His kindness can’t be put into words. He was a firefighter, a Harley rider and a damn fine operating engineer. He could expertly run any machine that had keys in it, and probably some that didn’t. He could put a piece of heavy equipment that weighed thousands of pounds into a wheelie. He was a union man with every last fiber of his being. He was the hardest of hard workers. His beard was his trademark, and it was fit for a mountain man in Montana – an occupation he at many times said he wished he had. He had a knack as a shade-tree mechanic and enjoyed making things run that, frankly, had no business running anymore. He loved his Lord and savior. He wore his bibs almost every day of every year. He loved dogs, especially his latest, Josie. He enjoyed Seger, Merle, Waylon, Willie and Jim Beam. Most of all, he loved his family. Lorne is survived by his three sons, Nathan, Matthew and Jacob; his mother Helen Marie Becker (nee Myers); brothers Mark and wife Dian, Paul and wife Darla; sisters Janis and Kathy; nieces and nephews Kaeti, Hollie, Hannah, Austin, Kristen, Ian, Rhiannon and Ryan; his former wife Joan Becker (nee Duncan), to whom he was married for 24 years; many cousins, aunts and uncles and countless friends. Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bell Funeral Home. At 7, we’ll say a prayer and a few words. He was an organ donor. His sons will make sure his ashes are returned to the earth in the places he loved the most. In lieu of flowers, his sons are requesting donations via Lowe’s or Wal-Mart gift cards in order to make necessary repairs to Lorne’s home, which Matt and Jake will continue to live in. Helping hands from those with expertise in home repair are also welcomed. Their address is 1964 Hwy N, Pacific MO, 63069. You can also contact Nate via phone at 636-259-0612 or Jake at 636-388-5433.
