Lost in the Shuffle of Stupidity... An energy efficiency bill - TopicsExpress

Lost in the Shuffle of Stupidity... An energy efficiency bill sponsored by Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Rob Portman (R-OH) has accomplished something unusual in todays Congress: it has won wide bipartisan support. The bill passed out of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in May by a vote of 19-3. The legislation requires the federal governmentthe largest single energy consumer in the countryto adopt energy saving practices and build at the highest energy efficiency standards. If adopted last year, it would have saved $4 billion and helped businesses create 80,000 jobs. But now theres a problem: a list of poison pill amendments have been proposed, such as delaying new EPA rules. And now, the bill has been pulled due to the fight over the resolution that keeps the government running as usual. This dismissive treatment of a widely supported bill is governmental energy inefficiency at its worst. alerts.3blmedia/jm/jm-news-alerts/alert-jm_news-2013-10-01.html
