Lots of masturbatory self-congratulation from Canadians re: yesterdays media coverage but Im not convinced. All agencies went from zero to terrorism in about eleven minutes. Even the CBC, albeit cautiously, referred to the events as Canadas 9/11 To suggest that weve achieved some height of journalistic integrity by being marginally less fear-mongering and sensationalized than CNN or Fox News is laughable at best and pitiable otherwise. Imagine I felt validated as a bass player because Im slightly more tasteful than Billy Sheehan? Or, topically, John Tory would be a good mayor because *at least hes not* Ford? Maybe this patently C-minus news coverage is a passing grade but I expect and we deserve better. Brace yourself for newspeak and draconian blowback. These assholes skip like a broken record of a bad tune.
