Lots of people have asked me how can they help? And I have lots of difficulty coming up with ways. But I have come up with an option that will really help me in so many ways. I have been granted the ability to receive Catastrophic Leave Donations. I have to use vacation time whenever I take an FMLA day to go do anything during the week with my mom, doctor appointments, meetings, transfer from facilities. I ended up having to take a day without pay last month because I was out of leave time, I got a few more hours this month, but as of next week itll be gone. I have no idea if Ive gotten any donations yet. But I suspect before this whole mess is done Im going to need quite a lot of time off, especially once we are ready to take mom home to wherever we end up. So how can you help? If you work at UIHC and have enough hours of vacation that you think you can spare even 1 hour you can donate, you can message me here or email me and I can give you instructions for finding the form. I also found out now that I can get donations from anyone who is an employee of the state of Iowa. So ISU, UNI, UofI, Judicial department, anyone! So if that qualifies you or a friend who might have a few vacation hours to spare let me know and I will give you some instructions too. I hesitate to ask, but a friend of mine was recently complaining about how she has so much vacation that she is losing it and I was floored! I am desperate for vacation hours and she has too many. So maybe there are more of you out there with the same problem. If you donate and I dont end up using the hours you will get to keep them. Thanks for considering this!
