Louie Bellsons Billy Gladstone custom snare and Pro Drum have a rich heritage together. Louie Bellson, Bob Yeager, who had a drum shop in Hollywood (Professional Drum Shop) got a phone call from Johnny Miller who had a drum shop in Kansas City. He (Miller) said a guy had just brought a drum in (with Louie Bellson’s name on the side). Bob Yeager said ‘Get it! Pay the guy. I don’t care what it is and ship it out to me. It belongs to Louie’. When Yeager got the drum he put it on the shelf to exhibit it. This was right before the earthquake in ’72. That was the only drum that fell off the shelf. Luckily, it didn’t crack the shell, but it bent some of the hardware. We immediately sent it to Teddy Reed in Florida who took over all (some) of Billy Gladstone’s material. Ted put it back in shape. The drum is also pictured on the cover of Bob Yeager’s “Chop” Builders.
