Love all the comments on the picture I posted last night. . . Now lets stroll north on the west side of the street. Oh, were just going for a block today but as in 1940. On the corner is a two-story building with the Masonic Lodge on the upper floor. What was at ground level? 2. Drug store owned by the Allens. 3. Robert Lee State Bank. 4. M-System Grocery (remember the west Texas chain). 5. & 6. ? (One was the feedstore owned by D.P Key). 7. Red & White (was this a grocery store?). 8. I can only make out N (or M) & A ___. 9. Dry Goods. 10 & 11 ? . Now coming back down on the east side: 12. On the corner was Craddock Motor Co (later Coke Mtr. and sold in 1944 by my grandparents to Cumbie Ivey). 13. ?. 14. The bowling alley. 15. Vacant lot. 16. Olene Sims beauty shop. 17. Vacant lot. 18. Observer office. 19. Gulf Station. Most of these business featured individually in later posts. Also the block further north. Well, lots of other blocks. Stay tuned.
