Love, appreciation more valuable than money—Deepika Dana LaVoix Published: Monday, October 20, 2014 Bolly Talks “Appreciation is important. What do we work for? If I work hard for my film and if my work is not appreciated, then what is the point,” asked Deepika Padukone recently. The beauty who has proved her worth in Bollywood said love and appreciation are important to her, and not money and success. Padukone has come a long way since her first film, Om Shanti Om, with critics who were not too supportive in the early days, absolutely loving her for her acting in Cocktail, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela. She acknowledges that “being a heroine is not easy” and says that it is a lot of hard work. So, will this hard-working lady take her talents beyond Bollywood? She definitely would like to, but what may surprise you is that she is not necessarily keen on Hollywood. While at the 16th Mumbai Film Festival last Wednesday, she said: “I think French cinema is as beautiful as Indian cinema and like I said before, I don’t think the medium matters as much as the story and the script. If I find something exciting, I would do it.” #BollyTalks is eager to see which international project she chooses, but for now, Padukone is currently doing promotions for the Farah Khan directed Happy New Year which also stars Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.
