Love for the sake of Allah what does it mean and when should it - TopicsExpress

Love for the sake of Allah what does it mean and when should it apply? Well in Quran it says, if there comes a time where there is one thing you dislike about your spouse, it was Allahs will or perhaps a test and you should express, love for them for the sake of Allah. Basically when someone tells me love you for the sake of Allah Im thinking, what does this friend hate something about me? Lol, maybe? It seems to be a resort we escape to in order to stay tolerant and at peace with those we love who may anger or disappoint us, as it is mentioned in Quran. A practice one might use to keep us from holding onto a grudge or getting bitter, we find love for them to please Allah and stay on our righteous and charitable path. I cannot think of many times when I had to put this type of love to practice, other than around some family and friends who were hostile about my reverting to Islam. I had to be patient, keep my mouth shut through the insults, screams, tension and abuse and love for Allahs sake because I knew it was a temporarily madness and reaction for something they did not understand. For some it was not and I had to let go though my heart was not bitter towards those I let go of...With my own kids, husband, some family and some very pleasant people in my life I do not have to force myself to tolerate or love for Allahs sake. That love for them is there naturally and there is not one thing I dislike about them were I have to resort to expressing and unnatural feeling to please Allah or love for his sake. But I do understand when others must go there during some difficult test in their lives. I do understand if friends or family must also apply this ayat when around me. I can be a tough and unpleasant cookie at times. I just felt like getting that out.
