Love listening to this wide-ranging interview with Steve Perry by Dan Mandis. The former Journey front mans loose and frank in it. - Pam @JRNYrevisited In this interview, SP cops to bad behavior during the heydey of the band. Not specific as to what he was doing during the high life, though. Every night you work hard, sing well...I had to come down...I was crashing emotionally and had jump off and hit the ground running (out of the band, into life in 1987). He rode his Harley for days after his first departure from the band, wondering for who am I, what am I? Talked about too much adoration getting to him and he cops to being cocky and an *sshole to people during the high point of fame...and how he needed the fall from grace. A rough transcript of a section of a bit of the hour-long interview: SP: The voice that was so unique to Journey was because I was the singer in that band. I brought a lot melodic solos out of Neal Schon that he cannot do without me. And I havent heard him do it since. And by the way, there are a lot of things that Neal Schon brought out of me that I cant find without him too...you influence each other in the moment to go to higher places. Thats what used to happen in the band a lot. I can be close to it (solo), but it would never really be the same. It gives me a coupon of forgiveness for not sounding like the singer in Journey because I am not in Journey.
