Love sweet n sour sauce. Never get enough at take-out. Jars can be pricey. Just came across a recipe thats versatile and easy. Made it 3 times, good each time. Pineapple juice is the key. 3/4 cup p.juice, 2 tblsp. corn starch, 1 tblsp. oil, 1/4 cup sugar,1/4 ketchup. Heres the kicker. For sour taste can use 1/4 cup vinegar, or 3 tblsp. worcestershire or soy sauce. All three work. Clove of garlic or few shakes garlic powder, and a few shakes ceyenne or black pepper. Mix corn starch, any or all above spices with ketchup into UNHEATED p. juice. Heat oil med/Hi heat in sauce pan. Add rest of mix to hot oil. Stir with whisk or fork when getting hot. Doesnt take long, and is easier than it sounds to make. Plus you can use any substitutions named above. Will thicken in @ 10 min. Stir constantly when it starts to bubble. The longer you heat and stir sauce, the thicker it gets. Makes @ 1cup. Add or subtract spices for different tastes. All can be made in 15 min. Great for egg rolls, chicken nuggets, or whatever you like. Good every time, and inexpensive to make.
