Love this! This applies to dancers and non dancers alike! (Everyone is a dancer at heart;) ) #3, #8, and #11 are my favorites: #3 is why its important to always listen to the teacher, even if they arent speaking to you. #8 speaks to me because I never had good feet, I had horrible extension, and I was never great at leaps and turns growing up. When I got to high school, I hated going to dance class because it was a chore for me to get through the technique of ballet class six days a week to be rewarded with only one hour a week of jazz. Then I got to college and found a style of dance that worked for me and it became my passion again. I stopped worrying about technique and focused on the performance aspect, which was my strength :) I love being on stage! #11 is true because the dancers of yesteryear (yes, I used that word) no longer exist. Dancers from the 80s and decades before were indescribable and I still stop in my tracks when I come across a Gene Kelly movie or Fame…two very different genres but no one dances like that anymore. Its simply glorious.
