Love this job description. Not sure if they want a nanny or surrogate parent....and all for £7.50 an hour! The family are looking for a fun, energetic and motivated person to care for their 2 children (5 and 1 yrs). The successful candidate will undertake day-to-day care of the children. They will help to nurture them and provide a positive, educational and creative environment. The nanny must share the family’s views on how to bring up a child. They believe in good communication and trust between the parent and nanny is essential. The successful nanny must be a competent and safe driver. Their children’s hobbies are horse riding, ballet, swimming, gymnastics and skiing. The successful candidate will be working 42 hours per week. Precise details to be negotiated as work schedules are demanding and change 6 monthly. For example: 3 full days, one part day and one rest day OR 3 full days and 2 part days. Baby-sitting is in addition and paid hourly. It is also desirable that the nanny will be available to travel with the family on holidays/business travel. The planning of which is well advance so that good notification will be given so the nanny can also plan ahead. Additional pay will be provided for this period. This role is sole charge of the children when parents are at work and working at home. Full time nanny’s duties include all things related to the children and “nursery duties”: cooking, children’s washing and ironing, changing linen, keeping their rooms tidy and clean (bedrooms and bathrooms), clearing away the toys, feeding and bottle sterilization, cooking balanced and nutritious meals for the baby and clearing up in the kitchen afterwards, and making sure that their play environment is clean and tidy, supervising homework, school and nursery runs, taking the children to activities (play dates, horse riding, swimming, library, play group, music club) etc. You will also provide stimulating play and developmental activities for both children; for example, to help with homework, potty training, learning to read, and the development of good manners. The nanny should maintain routines for both children with the parents, for example bath time, naps and bed times. The nanny should provide a positive and creative environment. It would be appreciated if you would help the family with light housework, for example, emptying the washing machine and putting clothes on the line; initiating a clothes wash; likewise the dishwasher, putting the vacuum around high traffic areas to ensure the house remains presentable and clean, particularly where the baby plays, cooking for the family (e.g. when working late it would be nice to come home to a lasagna). Also, undertake light shopping if needed for the children, family and run errands. For example, posting of letters, buying items for the children, food items that are needed and feed the cat.
