Love your neighbor as yourself Jesus Weve all heard that we cant love anyone else until we love ourself first. Have you ever wondered about why that is? I believe it is because we project ourselves onto others. If we judge ourselves and find us lacking, we judge others and find them lacking. If we criticize ourselves as not good enough, we criticize others as not good enough. If we accept ourselves as we are, we are much more likely to accept others as the are, as well. A lot of us - myself included - have a lot of work to do on loving and accepting ourselves so that it will translate into loving and accepting others. When you notice that youre judging, criticizing or blaming someone else, think about how you judge criticize and blame yourself. These do not have to be spoken judgments; they can just be in your thoughts. Just for today, see if you can change a critical thought or judgment of someone else into a compliment for them, and for yourself. This will put you on the path to better loving yourself, AND better loving your neighbor. Which all in all will make the world a much nicer place.
